About Us

Since its inception, KTI has been dedicated to equipping individuals and institutions with trauma-informed knowledge and skills, and fostering resilience

Our Story

Kenya Trauma Initiative (KTI) was founded in 2021 to address the growing need for trauma-informed approaches in mental health, community development, and social transformation across Kenya where mental health services are often inaccessible, underfunded, or overly clinical, lacking the cultural and community-driven approaches necessary for lasting healing.

Since its inception, KTI has been equipping individuals and institutions with trauma-informed knowledge and tools, fostering resilience.  More than just acknowledging trauma, we actively embed healing into policies, programs, and grassroots initiatives, ensuring sustainable and equitable change.

By challenging systemic gaps, KTI is shifting the narrative around trauma—from an individual issue to a collective concern requiring structural change. We are fostering a movement for trauma-informed social transformation, embedding healing into community development, organizational policies, and national programs to create a stronger, more resilient Kenya.
